It's already late in the morning and I'm feeling unmotivated and unaccomplished. I really would like to be back in bed. It was so overcast this morning and with no sun the drive to work seemed to take longer than usual.
It's been suggested that I am lame and implied that my blog is insignificant. I won't argue with that, it is really. I mean it isn't like I am trying to win a Pulitzer for my work here. It's a blog, its a blog that is lame. Don't read if you don't want to read a lame blog. Or read it with that in mind and don't point it out to me.
In other news I'm a dirty liberal from Brazoria County. I'm not sure if I will ever be able to go back there. I mean it is "real America" and I am part of that "antiAmerican" faction that I have been hearing so much about. The hate mongering is ridiculous these days. I'd like a candidate that wants to unite people instead of building barriers and dividing the nation.
In related news my mother made some comment about everything being Bill Clinton's fault to which I pointed out that the years each party was in control of congress. So hooray.
She is also very concerned that taxes are going to increase and that she is going to have to pay a lot. And I am not concerned and I am pretty sure she takes issue with that. I guess I just don't understand it. I should have gone to TAMU, studied land management and voted like the rest of the county does.
I had a terrible time with the folks at Continental Airlines. It was my first time hating them more than I had NWA. Dallas was fun, Laredo not so much fun. I'd like to go back to both. I spent a lot of time in the Hall of State at the State Fair. It's by far my favorite building in the state. Travels to West Texas and Big Bend could be nice, this trip to Laredo was far from it. The hotel was decent so that gets a plus.
I will be happy if I never go out on the Riverwalk again. The metal bar was nice, from what I remember, it was sort of like Hell.
I learned how to make a podcast. Try not to mock me.
note; back to library 2.0 projects, i suppose

none - none
lets see how I can phrase it nicely...I hate Austin but since it has such a great music scene I guess I like it. Is that correct? Is that fair? It probably isn't and honestly I don't think that a town should have a music scene like it does if it isn't NY, Philly or some metropolis on the west coast. I still hate Austin because its over-rated and well I don't know anyone that lives there really. I am going to keep adding shows that I want and can go to to the list on my last.fm. Maybe I should find some libsci kids from there to hang out with. I'm so tres unhip. Dr. Dog, Mountain Goats, Tokyo Police Club and I could see the Toadies tonight. WTF? This just proves that Austin is an anomaly that should not exist.
In other news, I have moved into my part of my own apartment. That means that I am sleeping in my bedroom and last night I took a shower in my own bathroom.
In irrelevant news - I am at DRT and looking into local DRT chapters but all the meetings are in the middle of the afternoon or a lunch.
note; need hair cut before Friday for the staff photo

we all belong - dr dog
so in the last few seconds before my laptop dies let me recap and write the post that I have been meaning to for a bit.
First - the most ground breaking news of all... wait for it - my mother listens to NPR. For reals.
My back is killing me. I need to find a chiropractor or start with the back strengthening exercises. I think that I am way too young to feel this way.
The shuttle bus at work is the pits. I have not problem with parking and riding but it is an unreliable service. There is a printed schedule but it isn't followed. I am maybe becoming a radical militant librarian and it was totally unexpected.
So this week I have decided that I need to get a MBA. My thinking is that if I get one then I will be more desirable as a candidate for higher positions and since I am only 25 a few more years (read about 8 more) earning experience and growing and I will be able to apply for director positions (theoretically). So my job now is to stay motivated, keep learning and keep making progress. Keep moving.
note; this dr dog album is really good. Very good.

rub alcohol blues - ocms
long time no update. I've had a post i my head all weekend but haven't gotten to it until now. I also have a half complete robot post that will happen this week, i think. Please forgive the lack of consistency with the i's I don't care enough to correct.
so trials, troubles and traveling northwest air led me to stay the night in Memphis this weekend. All was ok because it was Elvis week and while i didn't get any photos seeing a few Japanese kids with pompadours and an older lady with the crazy bedazzled "the King" tshirt was cool. Ribs from Rendezvous were also very tasty and my room at the Holiday Inn as half off.
So on to the land of cheese and beer for a wedding that was very beautiful and fun.
But the point of this post is to recount how while I like old people they make no sense to me.
At the reception a very nice couple sat with us and they told us a little about when they met and they sounded very nice and laid back. As the evening rolled along the wife wanted to discuss the situation in Georgia with me and that went alright. She had a few things to say about oil prices, the folly of the war in Iraq and the environment which lead me to believe she was liberal leaning. Well as it turns out that was a very bad assumption on my part. She seemed to astonished that anyone would want to vote for a man like Obama. So... This leads me to believe that despite all the great things the children of the greatest generation have done for us they are going to continue to fuck us over. Opposed to war, want the environment cleaned up but can't say the world liberal. Really. Thanks. I have the impression that is the Midwest American mindset and it kills me. And as a whole even the "young" ones have deplorable taste in music.
As an aside the older woman mentioned something about her son who is an attorney and listens to Bob Dylan. She seems to think the might be a dreaded liberal.
In other news I am thinking of starting a revolution at work. Well around work. The shuttle bus service is second to something that might be offered in a third world country. No true schedule, only two shuttle that aren't big enough and routes that make no sense. I think that students on the track to becoming medical professionals should ask for something better. Alas it seems this system has been in place for years, always bad never challenged. So when I get some free time I want to organize a petition for better service. I hear it will not be well accepted and I can probably kiss a rise goodbye. Apparently you can't challenge some systems, even if those systems founded by some of the most liberal minds in the state.
note; sometimes I really miss North Carolina

clatter and chatter - panera
I'm back in Texas. A little homeless for the time. Went to my place yesterday but the locks had not been changed. So for the rest of the week I am in Austin waiting to hear from the movers. Hopefully they will be in this weekend. Thea has posted photos from the trip on her facebook and I am currently trying to figure out where I am going to put all of my photos. My Picasa account is mostly full and I am pretty sure I have a lot of photos from the days on the road.
I am also getting my car inspected later today. Seems like this is the next step on the road to a TXDL.
note: Batman tonight, I think.

a tired army - elf power
The last.fm application for the iphone is actually pretty cool. I'm listening to my recommended tracks right now and its scrobbling. very cool.
So the packing is going and going. Clara is here to help, which is good because I didn't really want to pack. I really hate packing. And so in packing news I can't seem to find the remote for my macbook, but ok because I have an iphone and I downloaded the remote application so I can use it to play my itunes. What else did the original remote do? I think it may have had the power to do more, maybe I will research that.
I seem to have more stuff than I did before. I do recall making a run for more boxes last time, that will probably happen again soon.
note: work tomorrow. new job, new state next week this time.
